Bookstores of the Triangle Part 10: McIntyre's Books
Bookstores of the Triangle is a blog series where Redbud highlights bookstores in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Apex, Morrisville, Cary, Pittsboro, Hillsborough, Carrboro, and surrounding environs. Do you have a bookstore you think we should visit? Let us know!
Today we ventured out to the countryside of Chatham County to visit a bookstore that’s been around since 1989 but that we’d never before visited: McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village. When we walked in, we found that somebody working behind the counter had taken a Redbud class last year and was on the long list for our Coppice Prize!
Aside from this happy discovery, we also were enamored of the shop’s robust children’s section, their mystery room guarded by a VERY mysterious-looking mask, and their literary fiction room/library where, we’re told, the real fireplace roars during the winter months. Emily needed more books (ahem) so she bought a copy of Kristen Arnett’s latest book, and then, on the way out, communed with the GOATS that live amongst chickens, cows, and donkeys at the entrance to Fearrington Village. Did we mention that you can buy books and meet goats? We highly recommend visiting.
