Intro to Memoir at Raleigh Rescue Mission

In spring 2025, the Redbud Writing Project is offering a six-week Intro to Memoir program at the Raleigh Rescue Mission, an organization that helps unhoused people break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with this group. This class will begin on Friday, March 14, 2025 and run for six weeks total.

At our two-hour pilot program in February 2024 (pictured above), participants were incredibly eager and engaged, and during our previous six-week round during March-April 2024, we heard just how cathartic and fun the class was. Participants opened up about stories they had been longing to share but hadn’t had the time, energy, or tools to put on paper. We loved getting to see how supportive all the class members were of one another. They showed incredible strength in reflecting on and sharing their varied life experiences and they all encouraged on another to express vulnerability. At Redbud, we believe that sharing your stories is a way of expressing your deepest self and we were honored to facilitate such critical storytelling. One participant said, “This is the class I look forward to.”

This class is made possible thanks to a generous donation from North State Bank.
