Bookstores of the Triangle Part 3: Flyleaf Books
Bookstores of the Triangle is a blog series where Redbud highlights bookstores in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Apex, Morrisville, Cary, Pittsboro, Hillsborough, Carrboro, and surrounding environs. Do you have a bookstore you think we should visit? Let us know!
If you live in Chapel Hill, you probably know a little something about Flyleaf, which is the flagship indie bookstore of that westernmost Triangle town. We have to confess that we haven’t spent as much time there as we would like—we were set to offer a class there in March 2020, but, well, the rest is history—but we were able to hold a trivia night there last January and attend some readings before the world shut down for the pandemic. We love the fact that they have a separate room where classes and reading groups can get cozy and have privacy, and we love their used book section, too: Emily found a copy of Elif Batuman’s The Possessed just a few days after her friend recommended that she read it, so really, it felt like a sign.
What about you, Chapel Hill? What are your favorite memories of and aspects of Flyleaf?
[Fun fact! A flyleaf is the blank page at the beginning or end of a book]
