Allison Darcy is a graduate of North Carolina State University’s MFA, one of the country’s top-ranked graduate writing programs. She has taught fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and spoken word on the high school and college level and believes in the fundamental power of language to create spaces of magic and justice. A self-proclaimed jack-of-all-words, Allison has received two Pushcart Prize nominations for her creative nonfiction and placed as a finalist in four North Carolina state fiction contests, two North Carolina state poetry contests, and internationally acclaimed literary magazine Glimmer Train’s final short story competition. When not writing, reading, or teaching, she can most often be found doing circus arts and/or entertaining her very lively rescue puppy.
